Youth for
dust-free future
A youth-led oral history and ethics initiative documenting pneumoconiosis in rural China
Who We Are ?
Youth for Dust-Free Future is a youth-led documentation and research initiative that examines the lived experiences of pneumoconiosis-affected families.
The project focuses on field-based observation, oral history interviews, and ethical documentation, rather than advocacy-driven narratives.
Why It Matters ?
Pneumoconiosis remains one of the most prevalent occupational diseases in China, yet its long-term social impact is often overlooked.
Beyond medical suffering, the disease reshapes household structures, caregiving roles, and livelihood strategies—particularly within rural communities.
What We Do ?
The project documents field observations and oral narratives through three primary approaches:
-
Conducting field-based oral history interviews with consent and contextual care
-
Recording observation notes that capture everyday interactions and practices
-
Building a public archive through written and visual documentation
